How to Prepare a Sermon: My 3 Keys (Basic Homiletics) - Katia Adams

- Hi, I'm Katia Adams. Something I often get asked is how to create or prepare a sermon. For me, there are three stages for creating the perfect sermon. First is revelation. This is the aha moment. This is the moment that I'm looking for when I'm reading scripture and I suddenly get caught by something. Suddenly, Holy Spirit, pinpoints something for me, and I come alive from that. I wanna build on that thing. The aha moment is the thing that you wanna build your sermon on. And so that's the first crucial element of any good sermon. The second is the crafting and I think most preachers fall down on this. Most preachers get their revelation and think that that's all they need. But the second part of the process is incredibly important. And that's the crafting where you build in nuance into your beautiful aha moment, where you structure your aha moment into a message that people will be able to listen to, understand and remember. And so the crafting element is incredibly important, and probably takes more time than receiving the revelation. And then the third part of creating the perfect message, well, is the delivery, standing on the platform and preaching your heart out.
